Just Saying A LIttle Selling Blog Update....

Yikes... I think I am getting a hang of this new blogger... BUT, I hate change... I really don't think they made it easier??? UGH... Now FB and timeline...double ugh.... ANYWAY.... I am tired, need to rest these eyes... BUT, If anyone is interested I just updated my selling blog with a couple of new OLM OOAK Original designs... click on the picture of my dolls on the right and hopefully blogger will take you there! Tuesday Display Chain.... Mary Mary, How Does Your Garden Grow!?!?!?!?

Oh my.... it's a sad Tuesday... Though I totally understand.... So this our last Tuesday Display Chain, Misi has been a most wonderful hostess and generous gift giver with the display chain too!  Thank you Misi!!!!....

I took a couple of pictures of my barren gardens yesterday...Not sure which way I wanted to go with my pictures... Then the day got away from me and I wasn't sure I was going to do a post at all....But then I became inspired from some of the blogs I have been able to visit so far......

So first... here is a few pictures I took yesterday...

Geraniums in a wonderful basket from Pam at basketsnprim to greet you as you come into the OLM homestead....

But outside... Now our March was above normal... 9 days at 80+ degrees... It caused so much to start coming up early...Now April...below normal and frosty....YIKES!....

But... my bleeding hearts are up...small this year...

Tulips up here and there....

Arbor on the side of the house... I thought I would show you what has been "growing" out of the top all winter... wine and beer bottles...mmm... I wonder who put them there???  Probably some our great neighbors, and yes, we really have wonderful neighbors!!!!  Though... the blue bottles in the background are mine.....it's my bottle tree....It was just awful having to drink all that wine to get the bottles! LOL

So this bring me back to that light bulb for my post....Now I must admit I am kind a stealing this part from Robyn at Primlish...Please forgive me???  Loved your post on buying your home, seeing it's potential!!!  I really had forgotten that just over 19 years ago... we pulled up in what is now our driveway... Hubby is like I really want this house... I am crying NO PLEASE!!! It's the house that was pink and pea green when I was a teenager.... UGH!.. Now it's pea green, dark brown and mustard yellow... just as ugly....BUT, it was 2 blocks from the grade school for the boys... nice yard and a park 5 houses down....And at some point I could probably be able to quite work and stay at home with the boys, a very big bonus!

No real landscaping... 5 trees set up in the yard like the #5 on a dice... ick... dreams and plans... so we buy this house and made it a home.....

So here is what I could find ina pinch... after we painted the siding from that ugly green... even here is a mix up on colors for the eve's that didn't stay either, it went to hunter green for a time....  I believe that is Alex on the porch, probably 5 or 6... To think he's 24 now...AND the start of a center flower bed... Hubby never wanted that flower bed...LOL.. It will be a "pain" to mow around... OK, whatever...HEHE... I am young & I had a good back at the time.... He's in the military....leaves for his 2 weeks...T.D.Y.... I don't think he was gone 4 hours & I was tearing up the yard!  So when he came home to this...OOPS... I guess it stays! We laugh now, since it's gotten bigger over the years and such a focal point to the whole yard.....Though really what a ugly yard in those days!

To this... Yikes, what a difference 19 years and lots of work... Do you see Knuckle's out there posing? Or really just scratching...This year, paver bricks around the flower beds and new mulch...Thanks for going down on memory lane gardening trip with me!  AND Thanks to Robyn for giving me the idea, or that I really stole yours....Thanks Misi for all the work that went into keeping the chain going for all this time, and to Traci for the gift to a lucky winner!  Happy Spring everyone! Tuesday Display Chain,"Crafting Secret Exposed!"

First I want to thank everyone for so many wonderful and kind comments on my last post and Prims Magazine.... I am in awe looking at it last night, I must admit, it is really cool to see one's work in a Magazine and know that it's going to be out on the new stands... Thank YOU!!!

So onto Tuesday display chain!!!  Yeah to Misi for keeping this going.  I do loving seeing what everyone does week to week...  So this week's theme, a crafting secret exposed, or decorating secret... YIKES!  I don't know if I have any really good secrets....But here is what I have come up with....

First... I am going to share something I learned in college in photography classes....Now by no means do I take great pictures, but I always loved photography and I took in H.S and College.... But this one little tip has stuck with me.... I don't crop my pictures... In classes when we were developing our film, you could crop out the stuff you didn't want in the photo...BUT, in college, we were NOT allowed to crop...We were taught to look at everything going into the picture before we took it, and adjust at the point of shoot...I still do this to this day...It's not easy....doesn't always work, but many times it truly makes for a better end result picture....

 Now for my "silly" tips.... I have LOTS of pins in my pin keep... as I am sure everyone does.... Early on in stitching and crafting I was always changing out the floss on my needle...such a pain.... Now, I just pick up another needle add the new color... and keep those colors in the needles... So many times when I just need a quick color change, it's already sitting in my needle... Now, I am sure this is no secret!!!  It just took me a LONG time to figure it out!!!! LOL!

 My grungy mixture.....Again no secret here... BUT here is a couple of things I have learned over the years... Aldi food's if you have them by you are the cheapest!!!  $4 buck a jar, that beats Walmat by over a buck!  So I recently stocked up!  This should keep me for a bit!!!! Now the one compliment I get all the time on my creations, is how good the smell when the go to their new homes..... Again no real secret here... But, I use LOTS of instant coffee, Cheap cinnamon, imitation vanilla, and a couple of cinnamon sticks....So my secret...that cinnamon stick... leave it in there... for many uses...

 Having too much of everything! LOL!!!... Now not everyone can do this... But I like to have many different fabrics and such on hand... I hate running out last minute to get something I don't have... Not that, it doesn't happen... but I try to keep it to the minim.... BUT... I have acquired LOTS of buttons, CHEAP... Here they are waiting for when I might need them... AND, what I didn't show you is 3 large basket's full of fabric... just waiting... I really have a problem... I think creating is more of a disease....LOL.... So much crap just laying around this homestead...Then sometimes, I hate to use those "good" fabrics....UGH... for fear I won't find something as good again, BUT I am getting over it... It's too much of a waste of money!!! And my customers deserve those "good" fabrics!!!!!

 Now lastly, I really don't have any decorating secrets.... I just like what I like.... But I wanted to show you this new lamp.... Saw Linda from behind my red door showing one off.... Sent me right to http://www.winterwillowprimitives.com/... and YES, I bought one!!! love it!!! but it's on a timer... so it hasn't kicked on yet... and I was lazy to go under the cabinet to do it, sorry........

Then Lastly....HEHEHE... Remember back in January the "QUEEN" came for a visit... She came down on the Amtrak... we did a bit of shopping... shocking right?  BUT, she had to leave a couple of things here...LOL... Like this wonderful crow... AND, from time to time, this crow has shown up in my posts.... HEHE... I am thinking of keeping him, he is wonderful and BIG!!!!  But, this one is for the "QUEEN"  inside joke here a bit... "QUEEN" your crow has laid many, many EGGS!!!! Today!!!! HEHEHE!!! Love ya!!!! So there you have my 2cents on my creating!  Off to visit everyone elses tips!!!  I am sure I will be adding a few more "secrets" to my creating! OLM

There's a Secret That I Have Been Keeping....But Here It IS!

 So I've been keeping a secret for many of months now.... YIKES, for me that is sooo hard...... But now I can tell!!!???!!?!?!?! 
Hubby and I came home from running a few errors today...mail sitting on the table... Alex had already been home... and what do I see.... I knew right away!!!  I thought it would be a couple of weeks before I would get this.... The latest issue of PRIMS!  It will be on the news stands May 1st!!!  I am just blown away as I see this...speechless... for OLM.. .that takes A LOT!!... So humbled, there are so many wonderful artists profiled in this great magazine!!! How is it possible that 5 of my dolls are part of this?????  Humbled, speechless... See, I really don't consider myself a artist, I don't believe my creations come close to so many other artists and their wonderful talent... Yet, I am blessed to be able to create and to come up with a few of my own idea's from time to time......BUt mostly to everyone that is so willing to give them a home!!! Thank you!!!

 So here starting on page 98 to 102 is 5 OLM original designs...

Including one very near and dear to my heart....LULU... I created her over a year ago in honor of my mom and her battle with colon cancer...LULU is on the right along with Cally, and lil Old Hazel... on the other pages... is Becky, and "the Queen"  any guess who that one is all about????  Speechless... though I will say, it is so cool and a bit surreal to see one's work published in a magazine,  I am blessed! OLM

Lemon Poppy Seeds Update....

Happy Saturday evening everyone!  Just jumping in quickly to let you know I have updated my Lemon Poppy Seeds page with several new creations!!! One doll is a idea I have been tossing around for awhile... "The Hot dog Man and Knuckle's"!  Finally brought him to "life"  or prim creation at least!  I have been glued to my sewing machine this last week... I guess my "mojo" is back a bit and I must admit it's felt good to be creating again! I have figured out how to link up, or at least this time! I keep disappearing....Here's What I've Been Up Too...

                                    UGH... First I hope everyone had a most WONDERFUL Easter!!!  I didn't mean to be away so long....sigh... I grounded myself from the computer a bit... Trying to get things done.... THEN I see Blogger changed or upgraded as they would call it... how we post... My first time doing it this way... Of course the pictures upload in a different order then before.... SO .... This is backwards from how I planned it.... I HATE CHANGE!!!  Facebook now this.... I have a few choice words at the moment.... AWAY.....

 First up is a bit of creating I have been doing... I found my MOJO for a bit at least!!! YIPPEE!!!  One of the reasons I grounded myself... time to create several new dolls.. All but one are OLM OOAK Original designs!!!  So they will be up on my selling blog tonight as well as a few other goodies too!  the link for my selling blog is on the right....
Then, last week was Steven's birthday, my baby is 22!  My baby!!! ???  Where did the time go??? Double ugh!  So there was a small gathering of some family and friends for cake.....Of course....

 Here's a couple of Steven's friends teaching William our nephew those "boy" hand shakes....

 Joey finding my collection of vintage baking pans I have collected to sell... Though for this night they were part of her "tea Party"... Look at that face?!?!!?!  Her horns are hiding beneath that blond hair.. She is a stinker...  BUT we love her!!! AND she is going to give my brother & SIL a run for their money....Oh my!

 Yes, cake was consumed as was some wine!!!!

And...finally Steven with a rare smile, why, because he got cards!!!!  I can never get that boy to smile for the camera!!!!  If I did it right too... I have included the link of where to get the crock pot molten chocolate cake recipe from Alex's birthday too... It has a couple of steps, so I thought it's better if it's printed out, other then me typing it out and probably forgetting something!!! LOL!  this one is a keeper, so yummy!!! enjoy!!! If it doesn't link up right... with this new blogger... I just figure out the "old"...ugh...  google fix it and forget chocolate molten crock pot cake......... OK... many choice words being said now... I can't get the link thing to work.... I will have the play with this and try next time.... sorry.... BLOGGER!!!!
