A Year Ago TODAY!!!!

Just a short 12months ago, exactly one year ago today, I posted my very first blog post. I didn't know where this journey was going to take me when I started, I just know I wanted to give it a try. I have made so many wonderful blogging friends. All the kindness when my mom was sick and when she pasted away meant to much! What a year it has been. Oh the wonderful eye candy everyone shares!! We all have a passion for decorating our homes, whether it's prim or colonial, country.... I so love all the pictures!

So I should of been more organized, I knew this was coming... I had been thinking, YES, there should be a give away to celebrate this milestone!!! MMMM...Thinking....

I must admit, I was more busy finishing up my swaps, getting them in the mail... They say a BLIZZARD is coming for us, starting sometime tomorrow.... YIKES!!! Lots of snow for us... I am not complaining, just hoping this is the last one for the season!!! So back to what I am thinking... Scary thought, can you smell the smoke over by you?????LOL!!!!

So thinking of SPRING... THIS will be my theme... Here is a sneak peek, this bunny I created from a great Kentucky Primitives pattern...
So.... Here are my thoughts/rules....
1. Followers of my blog all you need to do is leave a comment on this post... New followers welcome....
2. If you so desire to post this on your blog side bar, I will give ya a 2ND chance....
3. US and Canada on this one because of the cost of shipping.....
4. I will pick a winner on Feb. 10Th.... That way you will have the whole spring to enjoy your goodies.....
NOW, of course there will be more in the box then just this prim bunny. I am think and I need to start working... So it's a surprise box!!!! I hope everyone is game for a surprise prim box!!!! It's my thank you to my follower/friends that I have made in the last year and all the kindness I have been shown!
Now, off to update Lemon Poppy Seeds, I have a few things new for them too!!!
Thank you all!!! OLM

Change of Plans, Thursday.....

So I had all these great plans of running all my errands today...Woke up to some snow, no big deal, just decided well, I'll stay in and play and clean up a bit! I have been wanting to do some rearranging since the Holidays. Something with the back issues I haven't done much of. So today seems like a great day to start.....

First I though I would show you my surprise yesterday from the "Queen" my SIL.... I am out at the shop taking some finished prim goodies. Phone's ringing call ID, the SIL... Sandy's like, I don't recognize that name....I'm like pick it up it's the SIL, I am afraid something might be wrong... Especially after the 4AM phone call I had yesterday.... OK, going off track to tell this story.... 4AM phone rings... NEVER good right???? It rings long enough for caller ID to come up, then stops... It's my parent's #....MMM..OH no something wrong??? Thinking about it... the sister, aka the fruit loop lives with my parents.... IF something is wrong she would call my brother first, not me....Waiting... Hubby is up getting ready for work, comes to me & says "did the phone ring?" YUP, parents... He's like you need to call that back.... I'm going to wait, if something is wrong, my brother will be calling any minute....nothing... Now I don't want to wake the house up over there... still waiting...finally decide I will just call my dad in the AM....

So I call dad, ask if everything is OK last night...YUP, fine, why??? well, I got a phone call at 4AM... So he's thinking my nephew's go to bed with their cell phones, and one probably rolled over on the phone and it dialed me....NOPE...HOME NUMBER came up.....ERIE.... he's a sleep, boys asleep, can't image fruit loop calling....SO....MOM???? don't know. I was thinking about her the day before, was the first time I had to write on Dr forms that she's deceased.... So don't know why the call came from the house at 4Am, though if it's mom....GEEZ mom it's 4AM!!! LOL....

OK, back to the story, so pick up the phone, went to voice mail... calling her back, Sandy's like waited... I know why she's calling. She's not looking for you, but me.... My B-day is tomorrow...MMMM... a little gift....Anyway I called her back, surprised it's me at the shop, LOL.... doesn't want to talk to me... Sandy...YUP, she read my blog from Tuesday and wants to give me the coverlet I was talking about... OMG!!! Way to much... Sandy is like YOU ARE SO SPOILED!!!! No I blessed with WONDERFUL friends and family, and the BEST SIL!!!!! So here I am last night with the coverlet on the bed, SIR Knuckles right there with me, wasting no time! Thank you my "Queen!" WHOOSH.... what a story....Back today.... just a couple of inches today... might as way stay in......

First I need to saw you my goodies from my swap with Tricia at Hillcrest Home Primitives. Tammy over at a Primitive Place organized this one.... I am a little behind the curve on mine. Hoping to get it out on Saturday, I promise Tricia!!!!

Great prim doll, tucked in one of my many chairs......Love her!!!

Then I also received a wonderful smelling candle, can never have enough candles!!! Sweet little bird and a great pin keep...Crafters can never have enough pin keeps too! Love this one! Thank you again Tricia!!!

So I started cleaning up my counters... Now I am reading so many a de-cluttering... I can't bring myself to it, just rearrange it up some.... So I changed things up a bit.....

Changed the corner up....

Love this chubby I got back before Christmas... Needs more sanding in the inside. I mentioned when I got it, it's a little stinky! Not musty, but oily if that makes sense... I sanded it some, it helped, but it needs it again... Love it on the counter, really don't want to get rid of it....

So that is the one corner... you should see other corner! LOL... needs work too... Just not today...back is telling me to rest for a bit now... New drugs are helping....but I need to do laundry next, why is that never ending?????

So here is the chair I found in Brodhead last Friday. Tucked it where my snowman tree was. Took that down last week. Spring is still a while away, really to soon for bunnies, but I couldn't help myself... Something new and fresh.. Great prim bunny my GF Barb from the Primitive Oswald made for me last year...

I got this great old baby sleeper, stained it and hung it on the drying rack above the chair....I am adjusting to this corner. There has always been something with a bit of height there.... so this is a change, just don't know if I like it yet.....

So the last thing I change up was my "faux" fireplace, mantel... Took my small collection of cricket cages put them on there and tucked lights in them.... Like this one a bunch!!!
So there you have it... Played and re-arranged a bit, started laundry, and a pot roast in the crock pot... What's next a NAP! LOL! have a great day! OLM

It's Tuesday, display chain day... Closet Obessions....

MMM....closet obsession's. I think everything I do or have is a obsession. I feel like a dog with a bone, looking at everything prim, great ideas, decorating, creating prims.... So I kept thinking...what stands out at the moment????

First simple yet silly, I am a magazine whore! LOL!! I can't get enough of them. Especially if they are prim magazines, and those are so few and far between. I have become so disappointed in Country Living, it use to be good, now, what is that? Surely not country or prim, at least to me.... So I keep my favorites and there are many. I like to look at them over and over again before I go to bed....

So here is a stash in the front room under the farm table..... Though there is the pile next to my bed, at little neater at the moment.... and there are many more piles that I have not shown. Yes, a obsession! LOL
OH, and then there is this obsession. This is a expensive one to have! YIKES! If the hubby only knew! I can't get enough of Family Heirloom Weavers... Table squares, throws, pillows, curtain, blankets..... Oh what have I started...
I must say at least I use them all. I am not afraid to leave them on the table, have food spill, wash them up. They do wash up great. If you are going to have a obsession like this one, They need to be used, RIGHT?!

My stack of table squares just waiting to be changed out..... New patterns coming out soon... OH NO!!!

YIKES, yes that is 3 blankets for the bed. The red grid is my first and my least favorite. Though Knuckles does like to sleep in our bed and I am not afraid to for him to be on them, again they wash up great! LOL.....
OK, if you have the gotten the new Country Sampler, OH I hate to admit this.... did you see that coverlet used on my bed, page 70??? YUP, have to have it, no sooner they put that on my bed I was on the phone to Sandy at Poppy Seeds, I NEED this!!! Please order... (please keep in mind this was 4 days after mom's funeral, retail therapy was just starting?) So that one is on hold at the shop, I need to sell few more crafts before I can bring that one home.....

Yup, chair pad on the rocking chair.....

Blanket in the front room.....

Yup, hanging in the gathering room.....

And the curtains in the gathering room too.... This doesn't include the tobacco cloth curtains in our room or the bathroom.... Oh if hubby truly added this up, I would be DEAD! LOL.... Obsessed might be a weak word, a disease is more like it! LOL

And then....the new thing I fancy... I just have one....old glass candy holders from the 40-50's, this one still has the candy it in......
Thanks for peeking, I was a little late putting this one up. I was at the Orthopaedic Doc today for my back.... I am on a anti-inflamatory med for couple of weeks & physical therapy to start... No relief in a couple of weeks, I get shots.... Bulging disc and a herniated disc... I did this one good! Have a great day! OLM

What a busy week!!!

Hubby took this week off... A good week to do so, super cold here, great time to just stay in and veg.....

NOPE...First hubby has been hot for a Dodge Challenger car... So off we went to test drive that. Now we always keep are cars for 8-10 years, never have purchased brand new... So here we are ALMOST buying a car, YIKES!!! Problem was it was my car getting traded in, now I love the challenger, sharp looking car, we could trade car payment for payment...OK... In the end I was not ready to give up my Ford Edge. So no new car!

Then he decides we need some Grain Belt beer.... Now you can't get this in IL...It's made in Minnesota, so a few friends bring it down in the summer months from hubby's sis, "the queen"...
So our stash of beer is gone as of Festivus.... Now there is a big football game tomorrow... PACKERS VS BEARS...Hubby is a Packers fan, the lone one on the block... Of course everyone is getting together for the BIG game, and OF COURSE Grain Belt was needed... So hubby called the distributor, found that we could get it in Janesville, WI... about a hour away, ROAD TRIP....
Now they did not have as much as he wanted, might as well stock up if your driving that far with gas prices in all....Purchased a few other brands we can't get here as well.....LOL So while driving into Janesville... OMG, did I really see that, OMG, I have the camera... OK, it's ZERO out, freezing cold.... Look at this packer fan!?

Yes, you are seeing things right, the top is down.....

Now he figures out I am trying to get a picture, pulls up along side us and poses! Too funny!

Off... he goes..... Really did we just see that???????????
I also wanted to share a fun surprise box I got in the mail this week from Patti over at Raspberrylaneprimitives.blogspot.com... What a fun surprise, she won my Santa and Elmer giveaway and just wanted to send me a thank you gift! Love it all, thanks so much Patti!!!

Great snowman wreath, I will leave him out for the rest of the winter......

Then the super cute gingerbread man, some cinnamon rose hips that I already put in a little enamel bowl and beeswax tarts...I need to clean up my bakers cabinet and I will put those there....
OK, so if we are going off to Janesville, I say to hubby, can't we take a little detour and go to Brod head first? Great prim shop there, that I sometimes sell some of my prims too, and a bonus is to call my GF Kathy and have her met us for lunch! Done, we were there visiting for 3 hours! Well....now to go to the shop and not get a thing, IMPOSSIBLE! I fell in love with this prim rocking chair, not sure where I am putting it just yet. Resting in the Chair is 2 Hester's I made from a Pineberry Lane Pattern. One is up on my Lemon Poppy Seeds Page, if anyone is interested, or just shoot me a email.....

Love the colors in the chair.....

So the shop is called Harvest Moon... Great name, just makes me thing of fall.... So this great snowman was marked down as well, just hoping for a new home.... YUP, bad girl... I am thinking I will leave him out all year, take out the green sprig and put a flag for the summer months...Really too cute to put away....

So there you have it, road trip, packer mobile, so beer and a few prims... Now depending on which side one is on, only thing better will be a Packer victory, or a Bears victory tomorrow.... Off to clean now.... Wasn't home much! YIKES! OLM

Stitched with love, Tuesday display Chain

The minute Misi said what today's theme was I knew what I was going to show. I have only one item and it is from my mom. It was my Christmas present from her this year. I knew I was getting it, it was a hard one to open....
So some history, mom started last year knitting everyone blankets. She started with the Grand kids. Something she could do while resting, this last year she didn't get around or go out much anymore. Then she knitted one for her cancer doc....
She then worked on one for my brother, then me. I kept telling her it was not necessary. ( I have a bunch of the family heirlooms). So I picked out my yarn, and she worked on it this fall and finished it 2 weeks before she pasted away. My brother says mine is the best one in the bunch!!! I had it in a corner in my room, couldn't bring myself to set it out just yet. I really don't want it used, it was the last thing she made for me. So this AM out it came and it looks great on the love seat in the front room.. So there I will leave it! So stitched with love from my mom, before she pasted away, just 2 months ago.....OLM
Please forgive me if I don't comment on every one's pictures today. I am lucky to be getting this up... Our Internet hasn't been working very good. Works minutes at a time... Several phones, waited all day for a service call, supposedly they were here, never told us. Worked for about a hour last night.. then nothing.... Tomorrow another tech, HOPEFULLY.... so if we keep rebooting the dsl modem, we can get on for a few minutes.... So now I am off to try & get another doll up on my Lemon Poppy Seeds page. Have a great one. OLM

OMG!!! Got It!!!!!

I don't think I can upload pictures to show everyone, since the magazine is copyrighted. :(...

YUP, out the mailbox, super slow, OH PLEASE, let it be there, and it was, AMAZING!!! I haven't gotten the complimentary issues yet, but at least one.....

So here's the scope, The way the product shoots works, is it takes I think they said 5-6 homes per issue to use for product. They don't travel more then about an hour from the office, so it can get challenging to find homes. ( I live about 20 minutes from their offices. Actually interviewed for a job there several years ago, no I did not get it) They can use any home, and bring props to get them the look they like.

Now, they love it when homes are decorated country/primitive/colonial so they don't need to bring so much.... It is fun to watch as they pull stuff from all over ones home to get the right look with the product that is being advertised....

So with that being said I hope you can figure out what might be mine and some of the stuff being advertised, well no offense some of the items would just never work in my home.....
So page 62 first shot, with Knuckle's our black lab in the shoot. He's famous! he has asked us to now address him as "SIR" LOL! So this is our front entry way, even though they talk about a mud room....Next is page 67, this is the new addition added on last year, the dinette with our harvest table made from reclaimed barn wood....pg.69 looking into one side of the kitchen.... OH my favorite shot, pg.71 our bedroom, oh the Family Heirloom Coverlet, MMM...must figure out how to get one, LOVE THIS!!! Must craft more! LOL.... Pictures in the shutter is the boys and from my girls trip each fall "Bags" though the flash washed most of them out. Now if my room could just like that all the time... Ya right, instead there is probably 30 magazines piled up by the night stand( love to look them over, and over before going to bed..) along with patterns, pencil and paper to draw new ideas... The craft mind even sleeps...LOL The baby shoes, are my boys and mine....Last shot our bathroom....Here I will say there are many things I am not crazy about, though there are many who like that look....So some one's home had to get it....So there you have it, those are the shots used in Country Sampler, thanks for taking that extra peek when you get your issue! Enjoy, now I am off to see the featured homes..... OLM

NO FAIR!!!!!!!

So my GF Sandy, from the shop got her Country Sampler today!!! The Spring issue....... Remember our home was used for a PRODUCT shoot. So she got to rub it in & tell me how great the pictures turned out! LOL.... (pay back's, her home was used in the Christmas issue and I did see them before her, they had brought me issue the date of my shot.)I saw the pictures as they were taken, but OF COURSE, I did not get mine today... I am betting on Murphy's Law here, and there is no mail Monday for the Holiday, so I am thinking I will get mine Tuesday?!!?!? So I am the first home used in the Craft section, if you got yours, I think page 62, I had 5 different shots!!! Can't wait to see.....
I will be back later, I'll post pictures of what I'm putting up on Lemon Poppy Seeds, 2nite! have a great day! OLM

Tuesday Display Chain, "Valentine's"

Misi has started up the Tuesday display chain's now the Holidays are over. I so enjoy seeing what everyone comes up with! So hope on over the 1890 gable house musings to see every one's Valentine's decorating!
This forced to me to finish my decorating, I started then, the back probably acted up and I never finished. I always add some Valentine's since it is mine and hubby anniversary too! 24 years this year!!! Where does the time go?

So here on my new "faux" fireplace just a few hearts on the bread tray on vintage popper.... Love this little twig tree got it over at my Favorite prim shop, Poppy Seed Primitives. I tucked this one in the bathroom, will change this out for the season's or just leave plain with dipped rice lights. One can't really tell, but the lights are red....
Love this little white tree, I keep this one on the pie safe in the kitchen, this one I change the lights and decor for the season. I keep these lights on a timer so I don't have to remember to turn them on and off....

This doll is a new OLM original design, just thought I show her off, she will go on Lemon Poppy Seeds this week.....

Farm table in the front room, few pillow tucks that I stitched several years ago and my favorite little Longaberger sweetheart basket.....

Just a quick tour. Off to finish cleaning, few of my prim friends are coming over for a visit tomorrow night... Need clean everything up?! It can be a bad thing, we really feed off each other.... Some of their collections are AMAZING!!! I don't even compare, oh the pressure! LOL! It will be a fun girls evening for sure!!! Have a great one! OLM

FESTIVUS for the rest of us......

Happy Sunday everyone. First I want to say WOW!!! 102 followers! I would of never thought even a few would want to read what I have to say let alone 102! Welcome all, at some point I will do another giveaway, I will give this some serious thought....I have come to love blogging, reading everyone else's blogs, making great prim friends, great eye candy pictures of everyone's homes and most important all the kinds words when mom passed away.....

OK, enough of that, onto some fun stuff... I thought I would share a few pictures from our "FESTIVUS" party last night... Hubby started this one last year for something fun and different to do after the Holidays are over..... So for anyone not familiar, you can google it... it really started from a Seinfeld episode were George's dad talks about boycotting Christmas started festivus, celebrated on the 23rd.... we wait until now....

So we get a few friends and BFN's, won't say what that is in blogland, but it's our neighbor's! LOL
First we gather for a few cocktails, some dinner, then we start off with the "AIRING OF GRIEVANCES" Last year was the first year hubby did this, no body really knew anything about it...This year the everyone had their grievances prepared... Here is Dave with his list, wrote in crayon.... Then he goes onto the fact he's old and forgot what he was going to say, all the pages were blank! LOL.... I should of take pictures of what BFN's Jeff and Nadine did, she had a card for each of us, with their "GRIEVANCE'S" against... starting with" WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOU PEOPLE!" OMG, so funny! Many good laughs where had by all. Amazing what we all come up with in good fun...... Around the table stating grievances......The 2ND part, "FEATS OF STRENGTH" Last year hubby came up with a few "goofy"games and even goofier prizes for the winners. This year we thought about it a bit and came up with a few keepers..... First "RING AROUND THE NOSEY" I found this one, hubby wasn't to sure about it until you start to see adults play a game for 4-5 year olds.... WELL... just look! enough said......

Just think of the comments from adults that have had a few cocktails by now, put that elephant nose on and have to get 3 rings to stay on the nose.... TOO FUNNY! This should of been on video.... Hubby tries to come up with new games from last year, though this will repeat!

Sorry about the dots in the pictures, don't know why i am getting them....

Laughing??????

Alex, our oldest, we should be so proud, he was the champion of this game.....

OK, this is a repeat game from last year, only one, we will play it every year, husband against wife "ROCK EM SOCK EM ROBOTS!!!!" My brother and SIL playing, Michelle wins... Claims she has a lot of pent up frustration from 4 kids having the flu for 8 days from Christmas until after New Years. Their 2 1/2 year twins had it 5xs between them alone! YIKES!!! I would of tossed the game and just started punching everyone! LOL

King John and Mrs. Cindy... Hubby and John call each other " king" I don't know why, probably because we won't....

Then mini bags game .... this was fun... My brother play in a league, I have never really played... no picture of this, but hubby and I came from behind and beat him!!!!!! Here they are playing against neighbor's Dave and Denise.....

So good time was had by all, many, many needed laughs.....Back wasn't too bad, today REST!! Hubby watching football, I will probably craft. OLM

I hate this part......

Since I am not moving that fast, clean up is taking more time this year! UGH! I am having a MRI tomorrow, finally, I know... though my appt. with the orthopedic doc isn't until the 25Th. So my Chiropractor ordered the MRI so at least I will know what is going on with this damn back...

But,the tree is down, I usually don't take it down until this weekend, but I needed things to go back to "normal"... Why is it you can get more help putting things up, yet no one seems to be around to help with the take down? LOL... Oh well, by Friday I will have it put away, except for a few snowman I leave out for a bit yet. This time of year is so hard, one goes from decorating for fall right to Christmas, now everything seems ICKY, PLAIN, BORING...MMM should I go shopping? Hubby will say ABSOLUTELY NOT! LOL.....

So here is the mess as I start the clean up in the front room... Maybe what I really need is a maid? Hubby will say not getting that either... have less "stuff"... Though I feel he with the most stuff wins!!! I just want to be in the top 10? LOL... Everyone talks about simplifying, I just can't bring myself to do it, love everything too much... Well, until I have a mess like this! Here is a couple of pictures of the mantel for the "faux" fireplace in the gathering room... Hubby mounted it to the wall and I started playing a bit yesterday....

Still needs a little something... Just don't know what yet... I know if I wait, I will find something around here that will be prefect, without buying anything, that should make hubby very happy!
Side note, the milk can on the left was hubby has a child. He doesn't remember it, but they grew up on a farm in Albany, WI until hubby was about 6-7.. This was used to go get milk from the neighboring farm each day according to his brother. His brother found it in their dad's basement after he past away and gave it to me...

Played around with the pie safe in the front room. Changed it up from before a bit... Sorry kind a took the picture on a angle... I guess that is just the way my brain wants to work these days! LOL So I have a "thing" for bread boards, and restaurant ware... Love collecting little creamers that use to go on the tables... They are cheap and small....some were made from ironstone, a bonus! So I added a little white to off set all the dark browns....

OK, now that I have gotten nothing done... I really need to craft... Promised the shop I would bring a few things in on Friday...Need to get my butt in gear, so that means the mess will wait! LOL! Have a great day! OLM
